Today I finally configured my Ubuntu for guitar tabs playing!
Here is the recipe:
- install “tuxguitar” package
- install “timidity” package
Maybe your sound card supports MIDI files better than mine, so you might go with hardware support for playing MIDI files. However, software sequencers do provide better sound and sometimes they are the only choice, as in my case.
For some reason though, timidity daemon isn’t started with boot up, so I had to start it manually. Before launching tuxguitar, launch following command from terminal:
timidity -iA -B2,8 -Os -EFreverb=0
Then run tuxguitar and select Timidity port from the settings as shown in the second picture.
Note: as I expected, video got deleted because of copyright infringement.
Dunno if I should laugh or cry? This is from S13E10, in which Marge has a snoring problem with Homer (she can’t sleep) and in the meantime she founds out that Artie (her prom boyfriend) has became a rich person. Artie wants to know how it would be if Marge picked him over Homer, so he offers 1M$ to the Simpsons family, if Marge spends two weeks with him. At this point, Homer and Marge decide that they have to do it, since Homer desperately needs a surgical operation – for guess what – snoring, so that Marge can sleep…
As from the M*A*S*H side, this is a scene from the last episode of one of the greatest TV shows in The Universe EVER, which put many people into tears, both behind the small screens, and camera. You can find more about that on YT.
I was checking the Wowd‘s hot list today, and this page was on the top of the list. Basically it lists and comments about the most popular YouTube videos. One of the videos, the baby which laughs for 1 minute and 40 seconds, caught my eye, because of the incredible uselessness and meaninglessness. Can you believe that in this moment, that video is having almost 92 millions of views!!?
So, lets assume that the average person sleeps 8 hours a day, which leaves him 16 hours for work, life, universe and everything. Multiplying 92 000 000 with 1.4, we get the number of seconds of “life” spent by watching this ridiculous video clip. Dividing that by 60 and 16, we get the approximation of time wasted, human life wasted – in years:
So it turns out that this clip has “killed” 367 years of human life, that is, somewhere between 4 and 5 complete human lives!
I won’t put a link to the video here because I don’t want anyone to get “killed” because of me. Just stay out of meaningless videos and spend your time on important things.
